This was an important compilation of historic data during the Civil War years. Published in 1868 by the Appletons’ publishing company, it serves as a major source of information about the United States during the Civil War. Much of this was compiled from original government source material published at the time. We are organizing this section chronologically, 1861-1865, and organizing it by Northern/Union states and Southern/Confederate states.
